Caleb’s Corner: Allergy Free Food List For Toddlers – REPOST!

I wrote this post over two years ago. Caleb is 5 years old now and in Kindergarten.  Since writing this article Caleb is only allergic or intolerant of dairy and probably nuts (peanuts and tree nuts)!!!!!!!!!!!! He can have wheat, oats, rye, barley and every other food he WAS allergic to! Can you say thank you God! You know what’s so ironic? Now that Caleb can eat more foods, he’s become more picky! The nerve of him! LOL! Life is good and the eczema woes are 95% gone! He’s sleeping through the night and has clear smooth skin everywhere but behind his knees! Wow! So if you are parent looking for alternatives and solutions this article and what else you’ll find on this site will help! Don’t hesitate to leave comments or send me an email to chat or correspond further! Peace and Love!

Hi Folks! We’ve been on this allergy free journey for over three years now! Wow! Hard to believe but it’s true! I want to share a list of allergy free food items that are a big part of Caleb’s diet.  As a reminder he has been diagnosed with multiple protein allergies and cannot have the following: dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, oats, soy, barley, rye….and I think that’s it! Although I feel like I’m missing a few.  Anywho, if you are a parent or family member of a child who has a lot of food allergies this list will prove to be very helpful.  In our healing journey we’ve uncovered an extensive list of what he can eat.  His diet is also pediatrician and herbalist approved! 🙂

apples raisins split peas hemp seeds green beans plaintains
mangoes dates lentils chia seeds corn products black beans
bananas coconut products (oil, butter, milk) chick peas kidney beans non – wheat pasta cocoa powder
grapes pears potatoes (white, purple, sweet) buck wheat millet carrots
pomegranate green peas pumpkin flesh bell peppers honey adzuki beans
pineapple (sparingly) rice (brown, white, yellow, black) pumpkin seeds spinach mung beans blueberries

Most people who are allergic to tree nuts cannot consume coconut products but Caleb can.   We’ve recently introduced millet and buck wheat and have  had no issues. His favorite fruits are bananas and mangoes.  He also drinks fresh juice and smoothies made with the food items  listed above.  His favorite  snacks are  popcorn, roasted chick peas, and potato chips.  Oh – I forgot to add broccoli and avocado to the list.  Although Caleb does not  eat like a typical toddler he has a great diet. Having food allergies does not have to equate to a  diet void of color, flavor and texture!

When we first learned of Caleb’s food allergies we didn’t quite know what to do.  Three years later  I’m thankful and proud that we’ve come this far.  Let us know if you have any suggestions on other  allergy free foods  we  can add  to this list!  I’m always up for exploration!
